VODAFONE 2ND HEAD OFFICE
[BIZ: Maastricht, October 10] The new office will primarily house Consumer and Enterprise Business Units, Online Services and parts of Strategy, Finance, HR and Corporate Affairs. It will initially build up to 200-250 people and grow to approximately 400 employees over time. A number of board members including the CEO will also relocate to Amsterdam next year. Technology, Customer Services and number of Business Support departments will remain in Maastricht where Vodafone will continue to invest in its current offices by upgrading its buildings and signing a new ten year property deal. There will not be any material effect on the 700 staff at its outsourced partners at Ericsson, Amdocs and EDS who are located in the South of Limburg. Vodafone is also up weighting its investment in Enterprise fixed, mobile and broadband solutions by combining these activities in the expanded premises of the recently acquired The Network Factory, at Son near Eindhoven. It will also continue to use its sales and support office at ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
As of January 2008, Vodafone intends to open a second Head Office in Amsterdam to support its growth strategy in the Netherlands. It will transfer the majority of its commercial and corporate functions over a period of time, involving relocating up to 10% of the current workforce and hiring new talent locally. This move gives Vodafone the ability to engage closer with its customers, business partners and other stakeholders, many of whom are located in the Randstad – the Dutch Western conurbation.
Vodafone has informed the Works Council and has started the consultation process.
