LIOF BUSINESS PARKS
[BIZ: Maastricht, October 2] There is a call for a Limburg investment fund of EUR 25m for the implementation of first-rate master plans run by LIOF and co-financed by the market on the basis of existing subsidies. To maintain a spearhead of the Limburg economy, LIOF is coming up with EUR 20m of its own money to develop new regional and extra-regional high quality sites for Greenport and also for campus-like developments for knowledge intensive businesses as in the life-sciences. Another LIOF spearhead for the future will have to do with the threat of crime on business sites.
LIOF Business Parks is a separate company. It takes the initiative, manages processes and takes on contracts, with one objective, that of creating space for business in Limburg. However, there is still need for expansion and upgrading; business buildings and sites get older and there is concern about the rundown appearance of some sites along the highways, caused by business parks. Of the 7,600 hectares of business parks in South Limburg, one third are getting old, and on 600 hectares, the site management, with business, is working on a revitalization program. But new problem locations have to be avoided.
