TRENDY, FASHIONABLE HASSELT

Over the past summer, Hasselt was called the most pleasant city by consumer organizations in Belgium, Italy, Portugal and Spain. This Belgian town has 700 trendy fashion spots in its small town center. People like shopping in Hasselt; it’s the fourth shopping city in Belgium and its exclusive fashion offerings attract 140,000 shoppers a week. The city has a good mix between clothing stores and exclusive boutiques. The shops are in old warehouses and distilleries or in beautifully restored city houses which give Hasselt an extra cachet. Fashion shops take up 60% of the retail surface area of the city and this number is increasing. In the last few months more than 18 new fashion shops started up in Hasselt, particularly in the Kapelstraat and the Havermarkt.
