SkyWin, the authority representing the Walloon aerospace cluster, has produced a new newsletter which covers a call for projects to be submitted by January 2008, with a focus on the use of more composite materials in aerospace, more intelligent materials and more service applications. It also covers: the Pratt & Whitney-Techspace Aero agreement [Mentioned elsewhere in this issue. ED]; the fact that Akka Technologies has taken over Coframi SA. It refers to a Forum on Interconnection and Microelectronic Packaging, the Thales Alenia Space organization, which has received a contract of EUR 229m to provide the first environmental satellite program GMES Sentinelle-1 (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) co-founded by the European Space Agency and the European Commission.

The newsletter also refers to the creation of a Laboratory of Structures and Systems for Space at the University of Liège, Samtech’s role as a preferred supplier for Airbus; the Galileo Satellite project it and gives a profile of Sobelcomp, which is a specialist in composite material based in Hauts-Sarts (www.sobelcomp.be).
