HIGH VOLTAGE BELGIUM-GERMANY
[BIZ: Brussels, September 16]
Elia, the authority responsible for the Belgian high-voltage network, and the German network manager RWE are investigating the feasibility of a high-voltage line between Germany and Belgium. At the moment, there is no direct connection between the two countries. Power from Germany is now supplied via the Netherlands or France to Belgium. The research is in the context of the integration of the electric power markets of Belgium, France and Germany. The trajectory of the line has not yet been determined and the costs involved in construction are not known either.
