WALLOON DESIGNERS
[BIZ: Liège, August 17] The Walloon design program coordinates Dutch, Belgian and German design in a Meuse-Rhine platform, which should be consulted for further information. It is part of the Interreg IIIA subsidy program. The three partners are the province of Liège, Walloon Design ASBL; the Province of Belgium Limburg; Z33; and the Dutch Province of Limburg’s department of culture. It provides a meeting place for designers in the Euro-region. It is setting-up a cross-border design network and making design more visible, and encouraging the economic development of the Euroregion thanks to the exchange of know-how. There are also educational projects.
Of the 6,000 Walloon designers there are 1,500 registered at Walloon Design. They want to link designers and business. The Walloon designers provide EUR 350m in added value: 10% of them work in product design (jewels, fashion, etc); 45% in communication design (in graphics and typography); and 45% in spatial design, for example in interior design.
