FORD GENK'S RUSSIAN CHANCE

Ford Europe is going to start production of the new Ford Mondeo in its assembly plant in St Petersburg in Russia next year. Ford’s expansion plans are, according to John Fleming the managing director of Ford Europe, also positive for Ford Genk. According to Fleming, the pressure on the Limburg plant will ease but Ford Genk will also supply parts for the production unit in St Petersburg. The production capacity of the Russian plant by 2009 will be between 72,000 to 125,000 units. Ford will be investing a total of EUR 330m in the Russian plant.
