AACHEN-MAASTRICHT CHAMBERS
[BIZ: Maastricht/Aachen, July 9] In 2006 both chambers were also part of the Dutch-German working group, was set-up: following on from the Declaration of Intent in 2005 on economic cooperation in which the border region, the internationalization of SMEs, and strategic cooperation were pivotal. This declaration of intent was also set-up to make a report on the problem areas and solutions relating to cross-border business parks. In 2003 there was the establishment of a cross-border business information desk for Maastricht-Aachen, and since then this has helped a lot of business start-ups. Dutch and German clients make increasing use of both chambers for help with cross-border aspects of business. Information sources have been developed to answer questions that arise. Questions are also more often being sent by email; but also by telephone, and close cooperation means that answers can be found to these questions.
The Aachen-Maastricht chambers have worked closely together and have set-up a department to deal with international trade and the Euroregion at Avantis, the cross-border science and business park. There were regular meetings in 2006 at that location.
