TESSENDERLO POWER PLANT
[BIZ/INFRA: Tessenderlo, June 2] A new plant on the basis of steam and gas will have a capacity of 440MW. The cool water will make a link to the Albert Canal and the power plant will also provide supplies to other consumers. The new plant is due to come on stream in mid-2010.
Tessenderlo Chemie is building an environment-friendly power station. This is in cooperation with the Swiss company Advanced Power and Siemens Project Ventures. Tessenderlo Chemie indicates that in Belgium there is a structural deficit in electric power generation and a great need for power stations. At this moment electricity is purchased abroad, and by producing power where it’s needed, Tessenderlo Chemie will have, in its own words, one of the most efficient chemical production sites in Europe.
