INVESTMENT IN SPACE

The Limburg Provincial Government has approved the report entitled ‘Albertknoop’ (the Albert canal link), a cross boarder area-dedicated strategic plan. The report is designed to serve as an outline of the development of the Albert link area, which involves both provinces of Limburg and the municipalities of Lanaken and Maastricht. In the report, attention is focused on activities that are important in this specific area such as digging for clay; determining of environmental standards and regulations; issues relating to opening the area up, the countryside, landscape etc.; water management, the subterranean infrastructure, park management, etc. The report will further serve as an important element to achieve a suitable accommodation with the Flemish government on a regional plan for excavation of clay with regard to the top of the Zouwdal (Zouw valley).
