[BIZ: Aachen, May 10] The second prize, EUR 7,500, went to D-Coat GmbH in Erkelenz for products that can improve the performance of tools such as cutting tools and drills. In the medium term, the spectrum will have a diamond coating added to it. The third prize of EUR 5,000 went to SEMIKON for the development of semi-conductor detectors for ionizing radiation. A special prize for Business succession on the basis of business plans went to two companies: the mechanical engineering company W. Heinrich Prym GmbH & Co. KG in Stolberg, specialists in Mailing Tubes, Paper & Cardboard Tubes and to Bernd Cohnen from Gangelt for Schiffers Bosch Car Service. Growth Initiatives
Three hundred and fifty guests were in the Coronation Hall of Aachen’s City Hall to witness the award for prizes for business potential in the economic region of Aachen, Düren, Euskirchen and Heinsberg. EUR 10,000 went to EMISENS from Jülich as first prize for the identification of fluids in the security technology for airports and railway stations. This procedure allows the distinction between harmless fluids and dangerous ones in a few seconds.
First prize of EUR 5,000 went to Tiskens Control and Drive technology GmbH from Wegberg for the development of a personal security system on the basis of RFID for the observation and security of staff in dangerous contexts. EUR 2,500 went to Powerflasher GmbH for growth concept in the area of software-based multimedia solutions. VIKA, an engineering company in Aachen, received EUR 1,000 and the third prize in the area of technical equipment for buildings and regenerative energy provision. The company set up a subsidiary business at home and abroad to promote energy-efficient construction. This will provide 100 jobs in the coming year.
