LESS RED TAPE

[BIZ: Wavre, May 10]
The Walloon government is attempting to reduce red tape for business and the Walloon Business Association (UWE) took advantage of the occasion to make a point. The government decided in 2005 to set up an action plan to cover the development of e-government and intelligibility among other things. This will run through to 2009.

The UWE finds the plan ambitious but it’s going to need to accelerate to achieve its objects by 2009. Two things have been achieved: one is the SME Test which allows companies to determine whether they are small, middle-sized or large, and also there are employment prelims that are generated on a virtually automatic system. As the press release notes, one swallow does not make a summer, and everyone has to be mobilized.

The e-government plan is ambitious, but basically the attitude of the UWE is that it’s going the right way but it’s got to go faster. Check the website.
