SERVATIUS CAMPUS GETS OK

[BIZ: Maastricht, April 24]
The Minister of Public Housing Vogelaar has informed the Servatius housing association that the construction of the offices and the sports complex at its Maastricht university campus is to be approved. After an initial rejection by the Ministry in September 2006, Servatius’ new proposal was approved and Servatius no longer needed to take the ministry to court. The Ministry had not realized that the campus didn’t have to be seen in the first instance as a facility for the district, but was an integrated plan for student housing. Italso eventually understood that it was not possible to find qualitatively good student housing without some commercial revenues. Both the sports hall and the offices are important facilities for students and recent graduates. The construction permit is scheduled for August and the project will be underway in September of this year.
