KRUISHEREN HOTEL WINS AGAIN

[BIZ: Maastricht, April 20]
The Kruisheren Hotel in Maastricht and the Huis de Wiers in Vreeswijk have won a national historic buildings’ prize in the categories of large-scale and small-scale listed historic buildings. This was made known during the Dutch Restoration Fair in Den Bosch. The prizes of EUR 10,000 are awarded by the Bouwfonds (a mortgage bank, among other things).

The Kruisheren (Crutched Friars) Hotel dating from 1348 is in the center of Maastricht. It was once a monastery and a church for the Crutched Friars. The complex got into a run down state in 1979; and, at the end of 2000, the initiative was launched to save it. It was transformed into a luxury hotel, later receiving the European Hotel Design Award.
