Investigations reveal that modern technology is producing a coal-fired power station in Lünen which greatly improves on current emission level norms. There will be 20% reduction of in carbon emissions. The plant is secure too. Tests have confirmed that all environmental regulations are met. The air quality is so good, that calculating an additional load is not relevant. Current standards are based on a worst case scenario. The effect on the water uptake from the Datteln-Hamm canal and the flow of the cooling tower water to the river Lippe has revealed that this will have no noticeable disadvantageous effect on the quality of the water, plants or animals in the river.
