NL PUBLIC HOUSING IN BELGIUM

Apparently the Ministry of Public Housing (VROM) regards the construction of public rental housing in Lanaken, just over the border from Maastricht, as just about OK, but does not approve of the same development in Liège. The minister doesn’t want Dutch public housing funding to go abroad. The housing units, public rental and more expensive private houses have been built, although the ministry and Servatius are still fighting the matter out in the courts. The ministry is trying to impose a penalty of EUR 14m on the company for going ahead with the project.
