WALLOON FP6
[BIZ/SCI-TECH: Liège, April 19] More information on progress can be seen at the link below, and there is a clear interest in ongoing progress within this context.
At the end of 2006 the FP6 research and development program of the European Union gave the Walloon Country with 26% of the funding for Belgium as a whole, as against 18% for the year before. Ninety-two companies took part, as against 35 in the preceding year; and, in general, the Walloon business research center and universities took part in 324 European projects. The European funding to Belgium has been EUR 300m, EUR 69m of which went to Walloon players, 54% to universities and 33% to business. Walloon companies received around EUR 23m (or 24%) of the amount allocated to Belgian companies. There is a demonstrable increase in interest, and now the new Framework program (FP7) is underway as of January this year.
