PARKSTAD CARE ECONOMY

A strategic agreement was signed in Heerlen between Parkstad Limburg and the care providers in the region. These include the Atrium MC (hospital), the Mondriaan Care Group, the Sevagram care centers, Meander South Limburg, SLR, Koraalgroep/Op de Bies, Pepijn and Paulus, the Radar Foundation; and, on the educational side: Hogeschool Zuyd, ROC Arcus College, the Saint Bernardinus educational foundation and the Open University. These parties have united to ensure healthy development in the Parkstad region’s care sector.

This means ensuring new jobs, internships and training positions, organizing guidance and providing challenging career opportunities. Currently 13,000 people work in the care sector in Parkstad. The ageing of the population means that there will be another 1,000 jobs added to this total.

The agreement is a multi-year proposal running from 2007 to 2010.
