AACHEN CHAMBER ANNUAL REPORT
[BIZ: Aachen, April 16] A further signal of successful partnership is the 25th anniversary of the cooperative agreement between the chamber and Aachen’s RWTH University. The added value to the location provided by the RWTH is something that The Netherlands also wants to make use of. The objective is to anchor technology transfer in South Limburg. This will enable use to be made of the experience of the Aachen chamber and the university.
2006 was a good year for business in Germany. Training opportunities in business went up 8.1%. This meant 4,182 new positions, the best result for 17 years. The state average went up 7.5%, this is for North-Rhine Westphalia, and improved on the national average of 5.5%. The Board of the Aachen region, at the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and the Aachen StädteRegion (or urban agglomeration), had decided to move towards a metropolitan Aachen-Liège-Maastricht region in cooperation with its Euroregional partners.
