EUR 43M FOR FLANDERS DRIVE

Flanders Drive, the knowledge and innovation center for the Flemish automotive industry in Lommel, will receive EUR 43m over the next four years. The money is to serve, among other things, to attract 77 new researchers. The Flemish government made EUR 13m available for the start up of Flanders Drive, and EUR 10.8m will be required for the 2008-2011 period, a total of EUR 43.2m. According to the Flemish Minister of Economics and Innovation, Fientje Moerman (Open VLD), the greater part of the money will come from the Flemish government, but participating businesses will also make a contribution.
