Headquartered in Veenendaal, this Dutch IT company is specialized in integrated solutions for housing corporations and care institutions. In addition, DataBalk boasts a data centre and IT management services. This strategic stake in DataBalk, bolsters Cegeka’s turnover and profitability considerably. Moreover, the capacities of both companies in the care sector are thereby enhanced, enabling the organisation to offer services to clients throughout the Benelux.
Cegeka focuses on the development, implementation and maintenance of custom applications, data centre and infrastructure services and on providing IT expertise to its clients. All IT disciplines are therefore represented in nearly equal strength in the Cegeka-DataBalk combination which, thanks to this diversification, now has a highly balanced distribution of activities and markets.
CEO André Knaepen stresses that with this stake, Cegeka is clearly anticipating the challenges of tomorrow: “Our shareholding stake in DataBalk is the perfect answer to the Flemish government’s call on the business world to invest more in ICT and services for the healthcare sector!” He was alluding to CareTV, one of the most remarkable products of DataBalk.
CareTV stands for “remote care.” It sets up a two-way connection (via digital TV) between patient and care provider, so that the former can enjoy greater independence and be cared for more efficiently. The aim is to spare the care provider from having show up for simple operations, thereby reducing substantially the cost for the patient,” explains Wim Bijnens COO Solutions, who is responsible for healthcare solutions at Cegeka.
Cegeka also announced today that it has found a new investor in the non-profit association Centrum voor Overheidsinformatiek vzw [Centre for Government IT]. The objectives of this new shareholder are geared to IT projects in the public sector. This new shareholder will continue to monitor these trends from within the Cegeka board of directors and will provide active support for the business plan for the public sector.
