[BIZ: Charleroi, November 24] Their small-scale CHP plants (Cogeneration Heat & Power) are the ideal solutions for providing heat and electrical energy on a village or community scale or for industrial use. Situations particularly well suited to wood gasification CHP plants are wood related industries (sawmills, furniture manufacturers), municipal facilities (swimming-pools, hospitals, district heating networks) and other heat consumers (agricultural greenhouses, etc.). XYLOWATT technology allows an efficient utilization of the available wood resources such as industrial, forest or agricultural residues. The company will receive EUR 1.2m from the Walloon region and it received EUR 1.8m from new shareholders.
XYLOWATT, which is a spin-off of the University of Louvain, is going to invest EUR 4m in the improvement of co-generation. It has complete solutions to convert biomass efficiently into heat and electricity. With a long experience in biomass resources, gasification systems, electrical gensets and cleaning systems, XYLOWATT designs, builds and monitors cost-effective bio-energy systems from 300kWe to several MWe.
