TELENET BLOCKS CABLE SALE

[BIZ: Namur, November 22]
The Court in Namur has halted the takeover of eight Walloon cable companies by Ale and Brutélé. This is as a result of a complaint by Telenet, which said that it had been put at a disadvantage and that it has been unfairly treated. The takeover was halted until the Court has made a decision. Telenet noted that the selection criteria during the tendering process was slanted in favor of Ale and Brutélé. The Flemish company has now ensured that nothing can happen until its complaint has been handled by the Council of State.

The judge believes that the selling parties are at fault because they did not inform Telenet — number of decisions reached it via the press. A penalty of EUR 5m will be levied on each infringement.
