LIMBURG LOGISTICS: STEIN
[BIZ: Stein, September 11] The day will be opened by the chairman, Professor Douben of ELC Limburg, and Professor Breuer of Aachen’s RWTH University will expand on the Euroregional developments and the consequences for logistics in Limburg, with particular reference to the position of Stein. There will also be a tour around the harbor and the surrounding logistical complex. Then Mr. Van de Meene of the Grensmaas Consortium will explain the logistical challenge and the consequences of the Grensmaas, the border Meuse project, following which Mayor Barske of Stein will explain his own view of the future of the Stein harbor and reveal future plans. Professor Nico Douben will chair the day. The activity is made possible by the Wessem Port Services Group, Meulenberg Transport, Container Terminal Stein, L’Ortye Transport and Milieu and Haven Stein BV.
The Port of Stein has been one of the major inland ports in The Netherlands for a long time. This fact is not terribly well known because a lot of the traffic went directly to DSM and SABIC, but the basis of Stein’s waterborne activities is a great deal more broadly-based. One hundred and twenty participants from business, government and intermediary organizations will be able to see for themselves on Limburg’s 7th Logistics Day on September 21 in Stein.
