LIOF BUSINESS CENTERS

[BIZ: Maastricht, February 16]
LIOF Business Centers (LBC) saw the average occupancy in its range if buildings rise by 10% in 2005. LBC runs and manages 11 business centers in Limburg with a total capacity of 24,000m2 of office space and 12,500m2 of production facilities. LBC is in the middle of a transitional period, which is why the figures were slightly down last year. Antoine Platen, the MD of the operation, says: ‘We have ongoing investment plans worth EUR 10m.’

The parent company, LIOF (the Limburg development company), helps and creates the financial conditions for the investment planned. Antoine Platen emphasized that LIOF Business Centers can’t do everything themselves: ‘We need the help of government and other players. Research by nvBeo (an umbrella organization) showed that a start-up company produces, an average of ten jobs. So, for the government, the investment in a business center produces more employment for their money than the traditional subsidies for employment projects. At the LIOF Business Center we are taking up this challenge.’
