HANSEN 100% GREEN POWERED
[BIZ: Lommel, February 2] In order to be able to run its operations 100% on green electricity, Hansen bought the “Green Certificate of Belgian Origin”. This guarantees that energy supplied to them is generated and produced in Belgium, using renewable energy sources such as sun, wind, water etc. The factory in Lommel uses approximately 20,000 MWh on a yearly basis. This changeover will mean an annual reduction of more than 15,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year. In Lommel, Hansen Transmissions produces gearboxes for multi-megawatt wind turbines, representing an installed capacity of 2200 Megawatts per year. This is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 950,000 households. Producing gearboxes for wind turbines is a highly technological, environment-friendly process to both the 360 staff and the surrounding area. Georges Roobaert, Vice President Manufacturing Technologies at Hansen Transmissions and designer of the factory in Lommel stated: “This demonstrates Hansen’s commitment to wind energy. We are very proud that the factory in Lommel is running entirely on green energy. The circle is now complete and we really do have an environment-friendly factory where we use green energy to make high-quality products that contribute in their turn to generating even more environment-friendly energy.”
The Hansen Transmissions factory in Lommel is running 100% on green energy from January 1st.
