REGITEL IS BACK
[BIZ: Thorn, February 2] These conclusions emerged from an investigation of 200 Limburg companies and institutions that use IT. The research, the Limburg ICT Monitor, was an initiative taken by the REGITEL Association, a sector organization, and was carried out by Flycatcher Internet Research. Positive expectations in respect of investments are visible across the board and the generally held view is that there will be investment in software, hardware and IT services. This should produce an upward swing on the graphs. At the same time the businesses obviously expect to achieve increased sales, although salaries in the industry are also rising and, as has been mentioned, there is always the issue of finding sufficient people. “The industry is clearly going to grow. It is important. Things are going well,” said Dis Valcq, Chairman of the REGITEL Association, which was celebrating its 10th anniversary. REGITEL has 70 members and is an initiative of the Limburg development company LIOF.
Limburg companies expect to spend more on IT in the coming 12 months. This will mean more employment in the sector, but at the same time specialists will be more difficult to get hold of. The companies involved expect more attention to be paid to IT but they don’t expect any hype, as it were.
