RUSSIAN GAS IN THE KEMPEN

The Russian gas company Gazprom is going to set up an underground gas storage site [Which we have mentioned before, ED]. It will be in Loenhout (Wuustwezel) and Poederlee (Lille) in the Kempen area of northern Belgium. Last month Gazprom let it be known that it was looking for storage for 500m3 of gas for sales to the British and possibly the Belgian market.

The preparations are ongoing, according to Vadim Lukov, the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Belgium. The project will be worth between EUR 135m and EUR 165m.
