BUSINESS TAX RISES STOPPED
[BIZ: Dusseldorf, January 17] In the past, since 2001, municipalities with a budgetary deficit were required to make these tax assessments, which could go up to 413% or 391%, or at least over 10% above the average assessment for comparable communities.
The North-Rhine Westphalian Home Minister, Dr. Ingo Wolf, has removed the rate of assessment prerogative for business taxes that the communities had hitherto had as a right. This meets demands made over a long period of time by Aachen’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry. So the municipalities are no longer required to make these very high business tax assessments.
