FRANS MAAS TO KEEP NAME

[BIZ/LOG: Venlo, January 6]
The big name among Limburg’s logistics companies based in Venlo, Frans Maas, is in the process of being taken over by the Danish company DSV, but it has been proposed is that Frans Maas should keep its own name because Frans Maas is better known that DSV or DFDS. The Danish company is prepared to pay EUR 38 per share for Frans Maas. If the transaction is successful, Frans Maas will disappear from the Amsterdam exchange.

The new company, perhaps still called Frans Maas, will employ 19,000 and have revenues of EUR 4.1bn. Frans Maas has EUR 1.8bn in revenue at the current time and employs 7,500. It will also mean an increase in the gross profit margin from 2% to 5-6% and also add a lot of profit to the network.

The companies are thought to be complementary in a geographical sense, as DFDS is strong in Scandinavia, the UK, and Germany, whereas Frans Maas is the major player in the Benelux countries and southern Europe.
