The Internet newsletter dealing with links between North-Rhine Westphalia and The Netherlands has produced its January issue, which deals with construction in Germany and avoiding pitfalls. It’s important to know how the construction market is organized across the border before the grant of contracts, and how contracting works. For this reason the INTER-NED and the German Chamber of Commerce are going to hold a meeting to inform those interested. It will be held on January 17 at the international construction fair DEUBAU in Essen. Check the website.

Trade fairs in North-Rhine Westphalia in 2006 are also covered in the newsletter, as are important tax changes from January 1 (examples are given). There are two publications about the Aachen Technology Region, which present it as an attractive, future-oriented location for high-tech companies. The area covers the districts of Aachen, Düren, Euskirchen and Heinsberg.

Reference is made to the German share price index Dax, which rose by 27% in 2005. There is also an article on the future of engineers from North-Rhine Westphalia -there are 40 locations in the state where engineers can receive training.
