CATERING INDUSTRY TROPHY 2005

At Fort St. Pieter the tenth Annual Catering Trades Trophy for Maastricht and the Hill Country was awarded to Maastricht’s Patron Cuisinier, Toine Hermsen, who has played a major role in the raising of standards in Maastricht — where there are now five Michelin-starred restaurants, including Hans van Wolde’s ‘Beluga’ restaurant with its two Michelin stars (he himself being a one time graduate of Toine Hermsen). The only complaint that one can make about this important occasion - which was also the occasion for the sector’s prizes for the handicapped - was that the speakers waxed so voluble that some visitors did not have enough time to enjoy the delicious vintages provided by Cuvee Henri or Ton Miessen’s excellent cheeses.
