CAMPUS START IN 2006

[BIZ/EDU: Maastricht, January 2]
It was announced in late November that the construction of a new university campus in Maastricht would be delayed. The delay is a result of difficult negotiations with the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. [Incidentally, there is an extensive and critical review of books on the work of Calatrava in the ‘New York Review of Books’ Vol LII, Number 20 of December 15, 2005 Ed.]

According to Leks Verzijlbergh, the director of the Servatius housing association, the architect has made changes to the design on which the EUR 104m budget was based. The completion is scheduled for 2008 and that is difficult but, according to Mr Verzijlbergh, still feasible.
