KUBOTA EDC FOR BORN

[BIZ/LOG: Born, December 9]
The Broekman Group from Rotterdam has received the contract to set up and run Kubota construction equipment EDC (Kubota Baumaschinen GmbH from Zweibrücken in Germany).

First contacts with Kubota date from 2005 at the Dutch investment agency CBIN in Osaka, Japan. Following meetings with Nederland Distributieland and LIOF in February, Kubota made its first visit to Limburg. There was a meeting with the Barge Terminal in Born, management, and the Broekman Group.

The logistical capacity of these companies and the infrastructural options in the region made a great impression on Kubota, and after some negotiations, with other regions too, Broekman and LIOF were able to convince the company that South Limburg was the best location for their European distribution center.

LIOF is delighted that Kubota is coming and sees the logistical cooperation as a success for the region. Kubota is a Japanese company with its head office in Osaka. Among other things, it produces compact excavators along with other construction equipment. The distribution center has been set up in Sittard as a part of Broekman Automotive’s subsidiary Born Car Center BV. Production will be in Japan, as well as in Zweibrücken in Germany. Machines from Japan will go by container via Rotterdam and then by barge to Born Sittard, and the machines from Germany will be supplied to Sittard by truck. The distribution center will have inspection facilities and other added-value options before the machines are shipped throughout Europe. Broekman will look after the logistical supply chain from the manufacturing plant, the European distribution center, and distribution to European dealers.
