PATENT PROTECTION
[BIZ: Aachen, December 8] Essentially the appeal is calling upon business, science, and politics to provide the legal and financial framework to improve legal protection in this area. The appeal, signed by Mayor Dr. Jürgen Linden, the Vice President of the RWTH Aachen University Professor Reinhart Poprawe (standing in for President Burkhard Rauhut), Professor Manfred Schulte-Zurhausen, the president of the Aachen Trades Chamber Dieter Philipp, and president of the Chamber of Commerce Michael Wirtz. There were 110 participants including a lot of practically orientated regional business people who have had experience of this issue.
There was an appeal for patent protection in Aachen, part of the 2005 Innovation Day, held at the technology center, AGIT the Aachen Development Company’s HQ, in the presence of important political and academic leaders, members of the European Commission and the State of North-Rhine Westphalia. This appeal for patent protection is the first of its type in Europe and it’s designed to improve the protection of intellectual property for German inventors and SMEs, where problems have occurred in the past. Legal experts and political leaders took part.
