MAASTRICHT 5; AACHEN 3...
[BIZ/LEI: Maastricht, November 29] The other stars in Maastricht are Beluga, Cuisinier Toine Hermsen, Tout à Fait and Chateau Neercanne of course. It should be noted that four of these restaurants are within walking distance of one another. What other city of its size could lay claim to such gastronomic distinction? Other Limburg restaurants, Valuas in Venlo and Aubergine in Steyl, also received a star. In Aachen, Restaurant Charlemagne in Eilendorf is the third starred restaurant, joining the St. Benedikt and La Bécasse. (Source for Maastricht: Ray Simoen)
Maastricht now has five Michelin-starred restaurants, the most recent addition to this select company is the Aux Coin des Bonnes Enfants restaurant. It is run by George Taselaar, the son of the celebrated gastronome and wine merchant Pieter Taselaar.
