WINTERLAND BIGGER THAN EVER

[BIZ: Maastricht, November 26]
The seventh Winterland Vrijthof fair in the middle of Maastricht will run from November 26 to January 8, and can expect more than a million visitors from home and abroad. There will be a skating rink, a Christmas market, and old-fashioned fair attractions — and organizational and logistical quality of the first order.

The 60m-high giant wheel will be a landmark visible from far beyond Maastricht, and there will the 1,000m2 ice-skating rink, and more than 80 stalls in the Christmas market - housed in an attractive tent, where Egyptian, African, and Oriental items will be on sale, and much more. A huge 20m-high Christmas tree with Anton Pieck decorations will add to the fun and the atmosphere.

Skating will cost EUR 3 for an hour and a half, and if you don’t have your skates you can hire ice-hockey skates for EUR 4 a day. Then you can have that after-skating drink at the Winterland café, and of course you can also have a bite to eat — Indonesian and Chinese cuisine, Liège waffles, and many other things are on offer.

The sponsor this year is Eneco (See below), joining the Bavaria brewery. Winterland will be open daily from December 26 through January 8, from 10:00 to 24:00 — skating and the Christmas market close an hour earlier. On December 24 it will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, and on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day from 11:00. Check the website for further information.
