SINGAPORE:EUR 70M IN ZEEBRUGGE
[BIZ/LOG: Hasselt, November 16] The news was given after a visit by the Flemish prime minister, Yves Leterme and the minister, Fientje Moerman. The harbor president Joachim Coens talked about a sum of EUR 70m over a period of three years, which would lead to increased employment. The investment will be in the CHZ Terminal. In 2006, there will be three container terminals instead of the present two. The Zeebrugge Port Authority has agreed to extend the container quay along the ‘Albert II North Dock’ from 400m to 770m. Following this, PSA will construct a new container terminal that will accommodate approximately one million containers per year.
The Port of Singapore Authority (PSA) is going to make further investments in Zeebrugge. This is of great interest to this area because it will clearly mean an increase in container shipments.
