TNT AND CORNELIUS GEBER

TNT has not responded to rumors that appeared in the German weekly WirtschaftsWoche about a takeover bid by the German venture capitalist Cornelius Geber, which noted that Geber had an interest in taking over TNT. This follows earlier rumors of a takeover by UPS. However, the TNT shares have risen by 10% and, according to WirtschaftsWoche, Geber is active in forming a consortium for a possible takeover. The consortium is said to comprise an American venture capital company active in Europe and a major strategic investor.

Geber is, according to WirtschaftsWoche, a heavyweight in the logistics business. The rumor certainly caused action on the exchanges.
