DEURGANCKDOK DELAYED
[BIZ/LOG: Antwerp, November 9] The holdup is the result of a delay in dredging, which is taking much longer than expected. P&O and PSA, who run the dock, have said that they are not in immediate need of the space at this time. (Source: Gazet van Antwerpen)
The Deurganckdok, the new container port in Antwerp, is experiencing a delay in completion and this means that it will now open in the last part of 2008, a year later than expected. The first parts of the dock were taken into service in July. The Deurganckdok will offer space for six million 20ft containers. Antwerp is doubling its container capacity.
