CREATING A LANDMARK
[BIZ/GOV: Raeren, November 9] The next stage of development will take place on December 8, when ideas will be exchanged and the feasibility study will be presented.
Since the dismantling of the borders in the Schengener area in 1995 Köpfchen at Hauset, between Germany (Aachen) and Belgium, has fallen into disuse and has become a sort of ‘no man’s land’. A new project has been proposed, within the context of the Euroregionale 2008, to turn the area into a landmark. The architect Jo Coenen has been employed to come up with a feasibility study, at a cost of EUR 12,000. Political representation will be from the Eureregionale organization, the City of Aachen, and the Municipality of Raeren.
