BEATRIXHAVEN DISASTER PLAN

[BIZ/GOV: Maastricht, October 11]
The Beatrixhaven disaster plan is a national first in the context of business park management and demonstrates the role to be played by the City of Maastricht, the Maastricht Fire Service and the regional South Limburg Fire Service. It was presented by the Employers Association during the annual meeting of the Beatrixhaven Business Foundation. The disaster plan was the initiative of the Business Association during a workshop on external safety at Beatrixhaven. It transpired that Maastricht was prepared for disaster, but in the case of external disasters there were problems in the area of crises communication.

With the financial support of the province of Limburg, the business park at Beatrixhaven was used as a private project with the objective of setting up a disaster plan that was not only on paper but also had adequate communications. Information could be communicated by SMS and on the text page of L1. For the first time too, there was cooperation with the Expertise Center for Risk and Crises Communication at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Information Service on their new Internet page www.crises.nl.

Councilor Mirjam Depondt initiated a collective assembly area on October 11.
