SNCB INVESTS IN LOCOMOTIVES

Belgian Rail SNCB has to invest in new locomotives, according to Christian Democrat MP Roel Deseyn. The current stock is outdated and every day 19 trains have to be cancelled as a result of this — this means 6,909 trains on an annual basis. According to Deseyn, the SNCB has only bought 60 new locomotives over the last ten years and for that reason he wants the government to put more money at the disposal of SNCB. There is a shortage in funding, reserves, and training for staff in the workshops.
