NEW PRICE HIKE FROM ARCELOR
[BIZ: Luxemburg, September 7] The price, however, will be less than the proposed US increase of USD 60 a ton. Arcelor is the first to raise its prices for months — the demand in Europe had fallen because of the high level of stocks. The level of stock has now normalized, said the spokesperson, and since June the demand has increased.
According to the German business paper Handelsblatt Arcelor wants to raise its prices for steel in Q4, 2005. The price per ton will be raised by several dozen euros, said a spokesperson for the second largest steel cooperation in the world.
