LOMMEL WINDPARK AT UMICORE
[BIZ/INFRA: Lommel, August 19]
Gislom NV is starting to build its first wind park in Lommel this month. It was established in 2004 for this purpose. The project involves the construction of four wind turbines, representing an investment of EUR 9.4m, according to the Aspiravi Group - 24.5% of which is owned by Gislom. Aspiravi has been designated the agency to invest in, complete and run sustainable energy projects, involving: wind power, biogas, biomass, small-scale hydropower and heat cogeneration.
Aspiravi is an initiative of the intercommunal utilities: Interelectra, IVEG, PBE and WVEM, together with the financial group Arcopar and the Hefboom business, which is part of the Gislom investment company. The four turbines will be erected on the Umicore site in Lommel and will each have an annual capacity of 2,000kW. The wind turbines will provide the power requirement for an estimated 3,600 families. The turbines are 140 meters in height and have a sail diameter of 80 meters.
